I'm GLAD to see it be an Apple logo and not the newly-styled happy-face that's been floaing around. Then again... who knows WHAT will actually be there on the final GM...? They can change it at the last second to PeeWee Herman and I'd still use it.

Clarification: Is it just the "Aqua-esque" Apple logo on it's own...?

ACK! Are we arguing over 4K78 all over again?

WHO CARES how many versions of 4K78 there were, or which was GM. Don't you remember that 4K78 was superseded by 10.01 in a matter of days anyway?

In case the above pic doesn't load inline for some reason, here's the link:

http://www.geocities.com/macattackpics/6C106HappyMac.jpg

Simply copy the above link and paste it into the URL Address bar...Geocities apparently doesn't allow it to work by simply clicking on the link.

Geocities doesn't allow external linking. So you have to copy the url and paste it into the browser. Clicking won't work.

I really don't think it is that cool. I mean, yeah, it is better than the previous thing, but yet...

Anyway, any other new stuff? Any bugfixes that were not in earlier builds or so?

Hmrph, it's just going to be a small gray solid Apple logo centered on a white screen or something.

Guess the devs and the like didn't go for that 'hello'.

I am also curious....I am running a 6c98 build and the micro$oft products have a curser problem (excel, word, explorer) where it vanishes in the active window of the ms product. Does this problem still exist in 6c106?

Also, the HP photosmart 1215 driver doesn't work, even though it is listed as a supported printer.

If your on a G3 you will notice large speed increases in this build. G4 already do most of the stuff, menus, file browsing, fast already. This build however screams on a g3 400mhz with 768mb of ram. It is like getting a G4 upgrade. The build I previously had was 6c98, I've tested every build that Apple has put out. I love how fast this build is. Very stable. FTP is unusable in the finder completely however, previously it was only partial disabled.

Oh baby. I LIIIIIIIIKE that new boot graphic. Silly to get all nuts about something as silly as that, but hey, we'll all be staring at that for years to come, so it BETTER be good.

That is, if I ever need to reboot after 10.2...

Eric I couldn't tell you on that, the mouse can be set a bit faster. I use Kensington mouseworks anyway for speedup. There are other apps besides USB overdrive that speed up the mouse if that is all you need. Several of them work fine in 10.2

OK, here are my two bits....how come inkwell is nowhere to be found in 6c106? Is it going to be an optional add-on? As for 6c160 being GM or even FC I say no way! I have my tiBook running on it right now and I'm going to downgrade back to 10.1 soon because of too many annoying bugs like the cursor jumping around all over the place under heavy cpu usage and apps crashing. It's quite close though, that's my opinion. And don't forget guys apple could always delay the shipment. It's not like they've never done that before.

I wish they'd put the localizations on the second CD; sorry to be english-centric, but the majority of Mac OS users are English-speaking, so it doesn't make sense to install all those languages (which take up a *lot* of space) when they're never going to be used.

If they did that, I'll bet they could easily fit the OS and the apps on the first CD.

Inkwell only shows up if you plug in an inkwell compatible device. What good otherwise does it do you

As far as the new keychain application, this has been there since 6c92

To Ken_F2: Ink requires absolutely no training, and the recognition is great.

Seriously though, will we be able to install 10.2 over 10.1? Not to be able to do this would be a darn pain in the ass, ya know...

The 10.2 installer has an option to backup previous installed system AND copy all settings from it. Works flawless. Totally love it.

Btw, they have included a new desktop called Faux fur that is the pattern seen on the box and other places. Lovely.

I wish they'd put the localizations on the second CD; sorry to be english-centric, but the majority of Mac OS users are English-speaking, so it doesn't make sense to install all those languages (which take up a *lot* of space) when they're never going to be used.

If they did that, I'll bet they could easily fit the OS and the apps on the first CD.

but if they did that - how would anyone who didn't speak english manage to read the instructions they need to read to perform an install?

or do you expect them aqll to make do in english until they manage to install their language.

what is japanese for "please insert disk two to install japanese to learn about how to insert disk two"..

Well, the installer should certainly be localized. But the languages for the operating system to be installed should be on the second CD. That way, if you want to install the OS in another language, it first installs the OS and the Apps, then asks you to insert the second CD (caching enough of the OS into RAM so that it can bear to be without its OS disc for a couple of seconds), and install whatever languages you asked for.
[Edit: Clarification]
