I'm talking about the desktop picture...not the overall desktop. So no, not the same topic!

Well, yes it sort of is the same topic, just no icons on top of the pic.

But maybe he wants to just get a new desktop and is seeing what other people have out there?

Why is everyone always so ready to jump down everyone elses throat when it's so easy to hide behind their monitor? Also, remember that not everyone has 30,000 posts on this board, spends 24 hours a day here and doesn't know the "ins and outs" as to how things run and what's posted where...

Boy you can say that again! The only think worse than reading the same questions over and over again is seeing the same people bitching about it over and over again!!!
And who knows... maybe there are actually some NEW desktop pictures out there. I bet there are. In fact here is a great site... http://qualitywallpapers.com/
And here is a great picture. http://qualitywallpapers.com/cities/.../newyork07.htm

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

and maybe this is a duplicate thread that should be locked. There is a thousand and two resources to find desktop pictures. If you see a pic you like in a "post your desktop pics" thread then just ask where the person got it. Its not that hard. There is no reason to have TWO desktop pix threads. There is a 16 page desktop pic thread over at Ars in the Battlefront forum, its a good place to start. You people are just as bad, btw, quickly coming in defence of someone for the wrong reason.

I like digitalblasphemy.com for that artificial look.

For the natural look, you can't beat your own holiday photos (minus people of course). Get some sunny, open-air shots that allow you to pretend you don't spend all your time hunched over a glowing machine in a darkened room...

(Oh, and if you disapprove of a thread, posting to it will only make it bubble to the surface more often. Just ignore it if it troubles you.)

I guess we're not supposed to point out duplicate threads, because it hurts people's feelings. No one is jumping on anyone, take a sedative.

yeah fellaws...relax.

Thanx to the gentle men who answered. I have been to just about everyone of the desktop wallpaper sites and they all suck. The quality of the pictures are always poor and the dimensions always end at 1024x768. I have seen many awesome desktop pics in these threads and just wondered if people could point us "newbies" to the hard to find sites that have these good quality pics.

If you don't want to join the thread you don't have to. I mean, the thread subject says what the thread is about. Why don't you just skip the ones you think are stupid instead of flaming others?

I might as well plug my own site, www.gridface.com/. There's desktop photos of distressed metal from the Santa Fe railyard, as well as some nice forest textures.

That's what being young and ignorant will do to you... you think everyone is 'entitled' to your opinion... even when they don't want it (and when it has no direct effect or relevance).

You can tell who the forum regulars are (i.e. those with no girlfriend and/or life) by who bristles the most by having another duplicate thread in a public forum... "What?!?!?... we just covered this topic last January... search for it " (and then post to a long-dead thread... mmmkay.)

Some people just need to get laid and relax...

Well, I use a variety of desktop pictures, depending on my mood.

Among my favorites is this one here from my own photographs.

Feast your eyes. HeHee.

You know, not for nothing but if anyone finds themselves getting so annoyed at reading duplicate posts from new users that they can't stop themselves from wasting even MORE of their own time by bothering to rant about it, they're spending WAY to much time reading the forums in the first place. Come down from the ledge. Put the Mac to sleep. Walk away.
