Did a search, but came back with 2500 threads...
Backstory...
Graduated last year in December. I use IMAP in Mail. They only allow students (alumni) server use 2 semesters after graduation. So, I need to be able to back up the hundreds of messages I have on those servers and either incorporate them into my new account (probably .Mac) or just have them in case I need to look something up.
Anyone have a suggestion about the best way to go about doing this? Thanks in advance!

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

Once you get your new Mail account, couldn't you just set it up concurrently in Mail with your present one, then drag all the messages you want to keep from your mail old folders into the New ones on .Mac (or whatever you end up getting)?

Just create local folders in Mail, then drag the mail from the IMAP folder to the local folder and the mail will be "backed up" to your HD.

Well, I also found that you can set up the new email (in my case another IMAP) and drag your folders from the old server to the new one and it copies everything... pretty useful.
