Mine is everything but original, anyway I like it, my MDD gets the name of 'Speed Holes', then the 17" PB is 'Cinematic' cause I can move it and plus the gorgeous screen… so, how do you name your Mac?

"Minerva" with other machines on my home network being named such things as "Mycroft," "Dora" and "Pallas Athene." The source of such names is left as an exercise for the student.

Current PowerBook is Frozone, in the tradition of naming systems after Pixar characters. I also have had Woody and Buzz.
My Wifi network is called Woodys Roundup.

For the same reason people name ships and airplanes.
Some people even name their cars. Albeit unofficially. My parents always name their cars after horses. But they are old and screwy..

Also, if you have a more than one computer (and especially if they are networked), distinctive names help a lot.

The computer name is what appears to other computers on a network. If your long user name is "John Smith", the default name will be "John Smith's Computer" but you can change it System Preferences -> Sharing.
My 3 computers are named:
"Krusty" (how obvious) for my main machine (eMac loaded with 1.5gb ram and 160gb/7200rpm hard drive)
"Lil' Server" for my nearly 6 year old iMac DV. It has a 120gb/7200rpm drive and, as the name implies, its the hub of the home network which include my Macs, and a couple of PCs that aren't mine, a PS2. Serves FTP, HTTP, to the outside world is the LR hub for a couple of iTunes libraries, web surfing, etc. and has 2 partitions which are used to back up my other two Macs.
"Gitano" (Spanish for gypsy) for my recently added iBook. I may change that name at some point ... just wanted a name that implied travel that wasn't a plain-jane English word (like, say, Traveller)

My first iBook was named Casper for his ghostly white color. Then I got rid of Casper and got an eMac. He, being white, I named it Casper 2 (I think). Then I got a PowerBook Titanium. In the tradition of Casper, I named it TiCasper. He broke. I have come full circle and got a 1.2 ghz iBook a few weeks ago and named it iCasper.

Fenrir is the name of mine, after the giant wolf in norse mythology. I chose the name because it is my first mac, and is a great and beautiful beast compared to my PCs

The 1GHz Titanium is named YoniX
The 2GHz 20" iMac G5 is named 5alive
I do kinda like it when computers that live together have some kind of theme for their naming scheme, so I might change both the names when I think of a theme..

My G5 is 'Zipper', my 12" PB is 'Tripper' and my iPod Mini is 'Zip' (I dunno if the iPod qualifies as a computer, per se, but I figured I'd throw it in there anyway...)

14" iBook = Margery Kempe
HD's name = Penitence
She's a 14th-century English mystic. Travelled all over the world going on pilrimages and in her later years wrote her own life story. It is considered the first autobiography in the English language.

My WiFi network is "Eggbeater"
My G5 is "Spatula"
My PowerBook is "Blender"
My Power Macintosh 7600/120 is "Mixer"
I like naming my computers after items you find in the kitchen.
It's fun to use my PowerBook to give a PowerPoint presentation, because whenever I open the floor up for questions at the end I usually always have someone who wants to know, "why is your hard drive called Blender?"

You haven't been a Mac user for very long, I see.
Traditionally, you could always tell Mac users, because they had names for their machines.
My first two or three were Marvin, Marvin II, Marvin III, then I can't remember, then my iMac DV, which was max when I installed an 80GB hard drive, maX when I upgraded it to OS X. maX is still with me.
12" Powerbook was flatjack, this 15" Powerbook is woodstock.

It has a hard drive, processor, screen, and an input device so I would qualify it as a computer!

Over the years, I've had four machines: Jane, Yuzuki, Canal, and Majel (currently I only have Canal and Majel; I wore the others out to the point where they stopped working right).

Ooh! I forgot my iPod - it's "Torgo the White" (but really, if you get the first 3 references, the last one's almost a given, right?).

My iMac is named "ChuckMac" and my PowerBook is named "Ally Book" ('cause it's aluminum, y'see). Not that creative, but easy to recognize in a network like my school's, which has about eleventy billion computers listed.
