After upgrading to OSX 10.3.3 in the DVD Player program, when I watch movies, I get artifacts. I was never like this in OSX 10.3.2. VLC works fine, and now I'm forced to use VLC to watch DVDs.
My specs: MDD Dual 867 G4 867 Mhz, 1 Gb ram, Radeon 9800 Pro Video card

PowerMacG4 MDD Dual867Mhz, MacOSX 10.5.5 Leopard

Could you explain these artifacts a little more, or maybe even take a picture of them with a digital camera. Does this happen with all DVDs, or only a few specific ones?

It happens to any DVD I play in Apple's DVD Player Program. Parts of the Video "breaks up." It was never like this in OSX 10.3.2. Anyways I forced to use VLC to watch DVDs, which plays problem free. Some in the Apple Discussion board said that this problem affects certain system configurations. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro if that means anything.
I'll try to take some pictures later in the day, I got to run some errands. so I'm going to be away from my Mac.
Thanks.

I took a snap shot of the screen with Snapz Pro, but how do I put it up in my MacNN post?

If you haven't done so, use the 10.3.3 combo update from apple's support site. A good number of update glitches get fixed by doing this.

I did use the 10.3.3 combo Update. Apparently there seems to be issues with the Radeon 9800 Pro Retail video card and the DVD Player in OSX 10.3.3 as other people with the same problem confirmed it in the accelerate your mac forums under video cards non3dfx section. Apparently I'm not the only one, those of us who bought the Radeon 9800 pro retail video card and updated to OSX 10.3.3 are affected.

Folks,
I've searched through the forums and haven't found much else in regards to this topic, unless I'm searching wrong, but I'm experiencing this problem with my 1.5Ghz PB17" with 128MB ATI 9800. I don't think the problem is restricted to the stand alone cards in the Powermacs.
I never had this problem on my old 1Ghz 17" running 10.3.3. The choppiness/blockiness is very noticeable and it is still present when using VLC. Something tends to it being a driver issues rather than a player issue.
I will try an older version of the DVD player to see if that does anything. Anyone have any other recommendations.
Cheers,
Steve
