Have a friend who got the type of gig where you sit around and do nothing for 8 hours, so I wanted to pass along some good games.

Monument Valley was my first suggestion. I'm looking for games like that in the sense they're really well done, not necessarily that genre.

Gentle learning curve is a plus. She doesn't have a high frustration tolerance.

The Room and The Room 2. Both exemplary, beautiful, and long-form, escape games.

Of that type, more or less...

Alto's Adventure.
A good Snowman is hard to build (yes, that's a game).
Bastion, although it is better on the Mac and you kinda need a controller for full enjoyment

There are a million puzzle games that you can burn time on. Threes is a good one, as well as the original Bejeweled.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Also

Sent along Snowman. Unfortunately, she's burnt on Bejeweled, but that's a good suggestion. She loved it at the time.

She's very good at that type of puzzle game. She crushes me at Super Puzzle Fighter.

Klocki is a good puzzler, too. Wasn't that once a GotW?

games that didn't annoy me after 5 minutes:

tiny wings
superbrothers sword and sworcery
osmos was good for a while
tiny bang (hidden object puzzles)
noodles (connecting pipes, puzzle, not cheesy)

clash of clans if she enjoys destruction and repetition
dominion if you want to lose her forever (I prefer playing IRL but the app is addictive)

Noodles is fun, though repetitious after awhile.
How about Kerflux? It's interesting in that you're trying to match sine wave patterns using sound as a clue to whether you're getting close.

A search for "dominion" just gets me helper apps for the RL game. Does the app go by a different name?

Just got the "I've lost my edge... I suck at these games".

Puzzle games, you should have said...

Noodles is very easy, I think - almost meditative for me to just sit there and fix them.
Hocus was fun
Dots, although it has become a free-to-play nightmare in the later games of the series
Sputnik Eyes I remember as being fairly easy as well
Zengrams

Hmm, they were changing publishers, I know... but have not gotten a link yet with new game. The old game is pulled from the store I guess in the meantime?
