i just updated shapeshifter a few days ago.
am running on a G4 powerbook (10.4.8).

when i open logic (the audio program), i cannot open anything from the menubar (ie open file, import audio, bounce); i get a beachball, and a freeze.

if i put logic in the shapeshifte exclude list, all is well.

SO... any ideas? anyone else having problems??

am gonna email unsanity as well...

I have not personally had any SS issues with the programs I use. Contact the Unsanity guys and see if they can help you out.

If you're looking for Shapeshifter 2.4b3, I uploaded it to rapidshare for another member and posted the link in another thread in this very forum.

I'm glad to be of service. Apparently many of us are experiencing problems with b4. I hope they fix it soon.

odd right?

the beta works fine, with everything. the formal release kills Logic dead...
(and only Logic..!)

thanks!

My mistake. That is weird isn't it. I can't say I've heard any complaints about b3.

have you tried the spanking new SS2.4 - full release? perhaps I misunderstood and that is the one that gave you headaches.

eight months later, am adding to this thread (which i started!)

i moved to a new mac this week (a mini), so am now intel. the final shapeshifter (2.4) STILL does not work with logic's menus (i cannot open, or save as, for instance).

so... i thought of going back to 2.4b3 on my mini but...bad idea? weren't there some problems with rosetta & the shapeshifter betas? (good name for a band, btw ).

worth trying?

and am answering my own post (i gotta stop doing that ).

uninstalled all haxies, and installed again (with the shapeshifter BETA 2.4b3); not supposed to work well with ppc apps...but i only have 2! (that to me was impressive info); an just tried one (toast) and all is well.

plus my menus work in logic!

am happy (for now...)

Try to use themes that don't require applications that patch the OS in such a way.

For example, you'll never run into this problem using Max's "Smooth Stripes" installer. But you will if you use his Smooth Stripes Shapeshifter theme. (Not a fault of Max's btw.. that is just how patching the system in such a way works)

Back when Aaron and Kaleidoscope came out they too had problems with certain applications. I think Photoshop was one of them.

I prefer system stability.

For now, at this moment. Until something changes, and it's broke again. Then the circle continues.

I prefer system stability and speediness over the ability to change themes on the fly.

to each his own; i thrive on shapeshifter (and one theme, for the last year or so); prefer a gui unique to my experience with my mac (and after all, many apps need updates with a system update)

whatever gets the job done, AND makes us happy..

I had the same issues with Shapeshifter and itunes. Whenever I would update itunes, it just wouldn't open or it would freeze. I ended up putting itunes on my exclude list.

Some people however have system problems and just put up with them not knowing what is causing them. But hey, they have a pretty GUI they like.

Another reason I wont use Shapeshifter. I don't have time to track down all the inconsistencies.

To me time is money. And if I spend less time searching for what is making my system screw up (Usually APEs or other hacks) the more money I make.

You'll find in the professional world, not very many companies let you install these 3rd party hacks for a reason.
