Motion uses Core Image. and only certain PBs, PMs, and iMacs with the appropriate GPUs can run that, meaning also only those machines can run Motion.

that means maybe we can use this neat little app to check for full Tiger compatibility too.

no luck for my rev. A 12" PB, but i knew that already. It's alright, though; i wasn't planning on getting motion. next year i may have to take advantage of Production Suite with an educational discount, however...

this might be more definitive. Motion uses Core Image, and only the GPUs listed below support its pixel-level programming.

Supported graphics cards:

-ATI Radeon 9800 XT
-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
-ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
-ATI Radeon 9600 XT
-ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
-ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
-ATI Mobility Radeon 9600
-NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra
-NVIDIA GeForceFX Go 5200
-NVIDIA GeForceFX 5200 Ultra

taken from http://www.apple.com/macosx/tiger/core.html

and here's one from Motion's site:

One of the following graphics cards:
 ATI Radeon 9800 XT (R360)
 ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (R350)
 ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (R300)
 ATI Radeon 9600 XT (RV360)
 ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (RV350)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (RV M11)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (RV M100
 nVidia GeForce Go5200 (NV34M)
nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra (NV34)
