Hi, how can I setup my iSight to transmit video all day, so people can acces a html page and see the live feed ?
Trying to look into a live feed as iChat works, or what solution is the best for this ?
All your comments are apreciated.
Thanks

To actually stream a live video feed, you need to be running a Web server and lots of bandwidth. In addition, you'll need to run QuickTime Streaming Server or something similar. Odds are that your ISP will not let you do this.

The alternative method which many people use is to capture a single frame from time to time, and upload it to an ordinary Web server where it can be served as a standard image. EvoCam is a shareware app which can do this. There may also be freeware apps, but I am unaware of any right now.

'Network Cameras' such as those from http://www.axis.com are good at sending live video streams, they also don't tie up your mac.

He seems to already be committed to using an iSight, though, so this won't work for him. It means buying another camera.

Thx for the replies.
I saw the evo cam one before, but having a 4 sec refresh image was the thing that didnt convienced me.
And yes the idea is not to buy another camera.
I will still look into it, if someone elsa have any comments, post them.
Thx again.

So you want to actually stream a live video feed, then, as in 30fps or something similar?

I am trying (15 day trial) EvoCam 3.5 and it streams iSight in real time via a java applet mpeg4 video, and seems to be extremely configurable.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

wouldn't a stream take loads of bandwidth? or are you going for something like 1fps?
