Since upgrading to 10.4.3, I noticed that all new icons, be it a CD/DVD, hard drives, New Folders, Downloads, etc, all pile up in the lower right hand corner, and will stack one on top of each other.

I have played with the view and finder preferences and that does not make a difference.

I tried repairing permissions, etc, but not luck.

This was going on well before .4.3 and its not related to permissions, I guess its just a feature.

I have not had this problem before and it does not show up on my cloned 10.4.2 on another disk.

I just ran Disk Warrior and repaired permissions from the other disk and there was no luck.

Okay, I tried to clean the DS_Store files with Cocktail and FinderCleaner without any luck.

I just checked my PowerBook with 10.4.3 with the same preferences checked and it is not doing it.

It's the long awaited "piles" feature.

It seems that changing the icons to a different size and then changing them back fixed it.

Thanks for that tip; it sure is annoying. Even Linux can manage to put icons on the desktop without doing that...
