Höj!

I have just installed MM 6.0.2 on my brand new MBP. The thing is, i can't see my my contacts avatars, only those on a Mac. Second, how can i see my groups? As it is now, there's only "Online" and "Offline"

Cheers!

A second for Adium. Unless you do a lot of file transfers over IM - Adium has extremely slow file transfer.

They are suggesting that you ditch MM and use Adium instead.

About the avatars, be sure your PC contacts run the latest Messenger version available.

Put simply, you can use Adium for your MSN buddies. It works the same way as Messenger but it also works with AOL, ICQ, .Mac, Jabber, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and Gadu-Gadu. Basically Adium is the best Mac chat client out there.

The only negative things I can think about Adium are: It gives false alerts (my friend uses it, and it tells him when people have closed the convo window. It was telling him I was closing the convo windows all the time, but I wasn't; the windows were still open) and as somebody else mentioned, the slow file transfer rate.

Well, i tried Adium, and i'm not really keen on it Maybe it's because i'm a switcher I like messenger better. Anyway, i think the problem with the avatars is that Microsoft Messenger for Mac can't download the pictures from a user, using Windows.

I didn't try Adium for long, but I find that aMSN looks and behaves more closely to the original Messenger (even surpassing it in a few areas). But on the other hand, it's not very Mac-like and consumes a lot of CPU power, but I suggest giving it a shot (be sure to update to the latest SVN version for better performance).
