"can't view webpage in Mac 8.0" - help!!!

Could someone please help me. I have IE and the message "the attempt tom load URL failed" and in Netscape "Netscape was unable to create a network socket connection. There may be insuficient system resources or the network may be down". I have a Sagen ISDN adapter and this suddently happened. Coul someone please direct me to the right configuration. I've already been in the TCP/IP panel and I have the DNS's and the domain configured. On the "control panels" I can't find "MacPPP" or "PPP" or "remote acess". I need some detailed instructions on what to do and how to do it. Oh, and on my Outlook Express, whe I try to download mail I get the message "Mail could not be received this time. A network error has occured (-3269)".

sounds as if your TCP/IP prefs have gotten corrupted, delete that prefs file, restart and reset your TCP/IP control panel settings

That is what I would do if I was using Windows. How do I do that in Mac 8.x? Step by step...? Please, it's urgent.

Your TCP/IP prefs file can be found at:
"System Folder"/"Preferences"/"TCP/IP Preferences"
Write down your current TCP/IP settings somewhere.
Move the prefs file to the trash and empty.
Go back to the TCP/IP control panel and restore your settings.
I had a similar problem with my cable modem a few months ago, and doing this fixed it. It has not recurred since.

What's the name of the file? Is there only one file in that folder? How do I restore the TCP/IP settings? I'm a fresh rookie ok? And I'm doing this for a person over the phone so I really need the specific info (like "Mac 8.x for kids!"). Thank You

There is a whole slew of files in the Preferences folder, and all you want to delete is "TCP/IP Preferences." (it's a file, not a folder).
Restore the settings by typing them back into the boxes in the TCP/IP control panel after the "TCP/IP Preferences" file has been deleted. That's why you copy the settings down on a piece of paper.

hey diogopts, your from lisbon, maybe the mac runs under a non-english version, so the file do not have the same name!
in my french mac, it's "Pr�f�rences TCP/IP", but don't worry: this is the only file which is in the preferences folder with TCP/IP in his name.
(i don't think that removing the file and restoring the setings will solve anything, but i never had this problem... so try it)
