How do I map a certain character in OS9

I need to type stuff and I would like to have a key that types the character for "1/2".

Now I cannot find the character in the Keyboard preferences, and I cant even find it in Word 98 "insert symbol".

How can I solve this?
{Animated sigs are not allowed.}

Apple menu->Key Caps should do the trick.
