I'm curious as to whats missing on the split screen online features. I'm having a blast with it so far, and I usually don't do FPS online games on consoles.

5. In hardcore, a useful, and strategical trick was pressing start to use the map as a radar. Now, red dots do not pop up. If this is purposeful, it's a terrible decision.
Read this on the Treyarch forums. Between this, the delay on dead team mates disappearing on the mini-map and the nerfing of sound, it seems like Treyarch wants to boil the game down to a game of who saw who first wins (as if MW wasn't that already). Just removing every strategic element possible.
Geez.

Maybe I should do the single player this weekend. I'm tired of half-heartedly avoiding spoilers.

I think so. I never noticed fluctuation of ping in MW2. It was either constantly shite or constantly good during games, obviously if there was a host switch this could change. At first in MW2 I never had network issues, I'm presuming that it was the number of people on, and that I could generally get into a game that was near me. Over the summer (when less people are on) and afterwards (especially when Halo came out) I really struggled for good connections, so much so that I turned into a OMA noob-tuber just to satisfy my blood lust.
What seems really bizarre is that I can get into less populated game types far easier than std tdm for example. I have the filtering set to prefer games from my region.

So, in the Zombie mode, you can play as Nixon , JFK, or Fidel Castro?

I have yet to touch Zombie mode, but I believe that mission is unlocked (either through beating the game or using a code of some sort).

Depends on which player you assume when you play with others. If you play solo, you're JFK.

Correct.
In other news I got to play a little on Thanksgiving and decided to do some wager matches for the first time. Gun game is pretty fun, but I've taken a big liking to one in the chamber. Pretty addicting.

Went to pee this morning and all that came out was a pole and a flag that read "BANG!"?
I'm trying to organize something with saint, but if that falls through I suppose you can be my back-up date.

??!!?!?!?
In other news, I'm seeing more and more bugs. I played an S&D match, we won 4-0 and it came up 5-0 (even have photographic evidence). Treyarch really do have a problem with numbers. Loads of RC going below the map as well. And finally what seems to be very common ar ethe red lasers that come out of claymores staying when the claymore is gone - usually when the player has died in std tdm.

I forgot to mention yesterday I manged one of the weirdest stunts I've ever tried to pull.
Either thanks to hardened, the walls, auto-aim or some kind of weird design mojo, all the surfaces seem far more penetrable now. So, on Grid behind one of the buildings is a little rooftop I like to camp. There was a firefight occuring inside this building and I noticed it was causing bullet holes on the outside. Carefully looking at my mini-map I slowly turned my character until my yellow arrow was pointed directly at the red arrows. I then blindly fired my M16 twice at the wall.
I got a kill.

Treyarch's Bungie Pro account ran out of render minutes for the month of November.

Say what you will, but the fact that they render to youtube (even if it is a heavily compressed shitty 360p) still has made it loads more useful than bungie's system.
Adding only 6 slots to house stuff is their classic "shoot yourself in the foot" move.

Alright, so that night we set the new mark we played like 4 awesome games on Jungle.
One game I was struggling, but at 8/8 (k/d), all hell broke loose on my typical camping spot and the spawn near it. I proceeded to accrue 10 kills in under a minute.
Here's the first 5 kills and the Napalm Strike I earned grabbing 3 more.
YouTube - DakarZero - Jungle Massacre, Pt. I
Now, here it is from first person. For the sake of time I cut the napalm strike (which you wouldn't be able to see anyway) and sped ahead to about 20 seconds later.
YouTube - DakarZero - Jungle Massacre, Pt. II (First person)
Pay attention to ammo count in the second half. All alone, after dropping the guy into last stand I get auto-switched and decide to finish with a rocket kamikaze. Luck is still on my side, as I score a sweet double before the overwhelming numbers (and lack of ammo) finally catch up to me.
Sequences like this are why I play this game. Soooo much fun.
Also, extended mags for the mother'uckin win. Never let up.

My excuse that I often play without a group of friends has been shot down in flames by Fatty. Last night I joined one of his games very late. He had 13-1. Next game I'm against him, another impressive k/d, which IIRC I contributed to 6 or 7 times. Then we paired up and he does a 20-1. Even when I hosted and he only had 3 bars he still came out with a good k/d.
Thanks for nothing Fatty, now I have no more excuses.
Pretty decent games considering the distance, then again KavVika is even further away from Fatty than I am.

You didn't think I'd give you a free pass on this, did you?
I had 9 assists and Euthyphro 8 – Fatass here was stealing a bunch of last stand kills.
Which makes you only as good as kavvika.
Edit: Oh yeah, new standing record - 700. This game is ridiculous.

I don't know what it is but everytime we play firing range my connection drops to two bars, it's honestly unplayable, I quit out on the last game because the lag was preventing me to even move correctly let alone get a kill.
I noticed that fattys connection was also in the red, maybe it's me but it happened three times playing that map and never on any other
Side note : that jungle game of 7500 to 700, absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, my best guess was Euthyphro had host, because the rest of us were fine.
It's a pity your headset doesn't work during the week, you kept popping in and out of games inexplicably.
At this point it seems like everyone has gotten to experience one or two games of Jungle Madness.

YouTube - Black Ops: 43-1 TDM
I was talking about this game last night. Guy doesn't do much amazing stuff (it doesn't even feel like 43 kills) and I wouldn't be surprised if the killstreaks count for roughly half his kills.
You may want to mute it, as his commentary is beyond inane.

Well it appears the sweet spot for me is level 27, which is when the L96A1 is unlocked. After this level all I need to round out my classes is the G11.
After much sniping (over 500 kills total) I have concluded that, ignoring the in-game stats, the L96A1 is the superior sniper rifle. Whereas the Dragunov and classified sniper give me more hit markers than kills, the L96 is as close to a one-hit-kill weapon as they come in this game.
Also, and take this as a serious statement considering my games played, I experienced the WORST spawns I have ever seen in a match of Nuketown today. No less that three times I spawned into heavy fire and died immediately. I start the match, run upstairs (with marathon), set my claymore, scope across the map, get first blood and BAM! my claymore gets a kill. WTF? I swear the guy made it into our spawn within 10 seconds, ridiculous.
Also also, played a match on WMD, spawned on the less desirable side and took the sniper position on the two tanks. After 30 seconds the spawns had shifted and I was shooting enemies in the back, again, ridiculous.

Clips, clips, clips, clips.
Having classified weapons sucks. I keep forgetting when I unlock (access to) them. 'Course gonna have to decide what class to remove to make room for a G11 class.
