A couple of months ago a new barbershop opened close to my house, run by a young English guy. Last week I saw a review of the place, liked the look of it and booked a shave and a haircut for this morning. A gorgeous old shop, all wooden benches and classic chairs, a fridge full of local beers while you wait.

It was fantastic. Hot towels, cold towels, proper brushes and then a shave with a straight razor. My chin is about as smooth as a baby's bottom. The haircut is good too.

Old crafts like this appear to be making a comeback, and doing well.
Now all I need is a god shoeshine place.

I found a place like that here in Phoenix. They throw in a quick shoulder massage as well.

You'd think the almighty would be naturally shiny.

It's good to know that she wears shoes. Says a little about the type too: since they can be shined, that rules out sneakers.

No, but God is; Alanis Morissette, to be specific.

How ironic.

"One ticket to Washington, please. I have a date with destiny."
