deviantart has the worst search of any site i have ever been to.
deviantart loads slower than 1 page of the screenshot thread full of screenshots.

you on dialup or something, it takes me 5 seconds to load the screenshot. and thats on a full reload. deviantart isn't the fastest site, but unless you are on dialup, you really shouldn't have a problem..

i'm using a cable modem. if i was on dial up, it would probably take a half hour.

DeviantART is just slow full stop, Lou. I'm on 3mb/sec cable here and it takes 20-60 seconds just to load a page of submissions. It's hell if you want to try and load 4+ pages at the same time, because they usually just hang for a minute or two before they even start to render.

exactly. i'm usually always refreshing or loading a page, so when i see a link to deviantart, i wish the person would use a faster place to host their images. i never go to deviantart links.

you know, im not a patient person either, but i can wait a few seconds, (what you claim to be minutes), for a desktop picture to load.

the fact is that devart is one of the slowest sites on the web. And because of that, many people aren't going to waste time looking at pictures there anymore.

^^ thats easily one of the dumbest things i've heard anyone say on this board. The analogy was relating waiting with two different subject areas, it's a perfectly valid analogy. Now if you wanted to attack the anology, you could say that if you're at the supermarket and there is a line with no people (i.e a not-slow-as-**** website) and a line that wraps around the entire supermarket several times (deviantart), you'd choose the line with no people in it. See? You can attack a point without resorting to needless flames and general asshatery! Yay!

Heh, you think Deviantart on a Mac is bad. Try it on Windows with IE! In addition to the slowness, every page produces half a dozen pop-up windows. It's almost unusable for a majority of Internet users.

You know what guys, you guys reminded me of how assholey Mac Elitists can be.
I'm sorry, but its the truth. Yes, Windows is bad, and sometimes websites can be slow, but we don't need to direct this thread in that direction.
I just got a Mac, and I'm trying to contribute to the Mac community by giving you Kamino and some high-quality desktops, and all you can do is complain how bad the hosting is at a site I use for a gallery/portfolio. You can't even comment on the work I did. Nothing. I use deviantART because its free, not to mention, my own bandwidth is more than double this month what it should be. I can't host this stuff on my site as I'd love to do.
I have found out that this forum can only complain and not give praise at all. No positive feedback (with the exception of "the preview looks good").

I won't make this mistake of ever posting here again.

I'm sorry I (and deviantART) wasted your valuable 5 minutes of life.

What is the deal here? You guys are acting like a bunch of kids fighting over a freaking popsicle, chill out. People are just stating a fact that Deviantart is the slowest website on the planet, which I truly agree with. You don't have to get at them for stating a simple fact.

If you don't like the preview, don't click the download and you'll never know just how slow DA would be.
If you do like the preview, click the download and have a little patience - after all you're about to get a free gift.

And there was me assuming all the complaints were about slow hosting.

Seemingly a convenience for you (uploading to DevART) is not a convenience for other people, due to the lack of speed - DevART is not the only place to host images. Why not use your hosting for previews and simply link to ImageShack or somewhere?

Although another excellent Louspeech, not the best of the bunch though.

i can see why louie mantia is upset, this is a thread is meant to be about his work not about how crappy deviantart is and yet maybe only 2 or 3 posts out of 25 even mention his wallpaper. if you want to rant about deviantart, start your own thread, don't hijack someone else's. its not like he was trying to piss everyone off by using deviantart as his host, he was trying to share something with you all.

by the way, i love the wallpaper
