It will probably run fairly decent, but wont look as good as PS3 or a high end PC.

I have no doubt that any G5 or Intel Mac will run UT3.

I'd be impressed if anything other than a Quad G5 or higher ran it

Well, the new MBP running windows can run Oblicion at around 40 - 50 frames. That's not bad at all. I'm sure you can run UT# at medium settings, low if worst comes to worst with a 8600GT 256mb.

I read this in an IRC chat posted today:

When can we expect to hear about MINIMUM system specs for the game?

MarkRein[Epic]: When the game ships and people are hollering about how amazed they are that an incredible game like UT3 can run on their not-so-new systems!
Awesome.

I seriously doubt it.. My G5 iMac (rev a) is adequate with UT2004. But it really doesn't stand a chance with UT3. I think the latest iMacs should do ok enough however.
As Peter said, its going to need something with plenty of oomph, particularly in the graphics hardware department.

"Oomph in the graphics hardware department" is precisely what the new iMacs lack. /beats horse

A MacBook with GMA950 can play UT2004. I just tried it the other day.

UT3 for Mac was officially announced today, to be released early 2008. No system requirements given yet.

Runs faster on Vista than XP on my MBP. Doubt Leopard would come close.

I enjoy it but can only play against bots until I sort out a new DSL connection. It's pretty damn fast on my MBP with all details cranked up. There are two things you will note. First is it has less maps than UT2004. That's the bad. The second is that the bot AI is soooo hard on regular settings you will need to be a UT genius to capture and return a flag to base. We're in a new era, people. These bots have more CPU power driving them. In a few years we're going to be Kasparoved. Maybe even next year.

Are the bots better players, anticipating your moves, etc? Or are they just aiming better on regular settings?

The bots can beat the crap out of you in every way unless you are really really good. Capture The Flag isn't easy at all on regular settings.

Anybody knows the system requirements? I'm curious if the G5 it's supported, or only for Intel.
The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look and do nothing.
