My name is Macintosh because I am a Mac fan and the name "Macintosh" embodies everything that is Apple... from what the Mac did for the world to what it does for me, everyday...Macintosh was the first PC with a personality and a soul, it had charisma (like Steve Jobs has) and is everything the creators of it wanted it to be...The Macintosh is one of the greatest achievments in the history of the world...the way it implemented technology and brought power to the people...the Macintosh is Apple and Apple is the Macintosh..forever.
I know sometimes we all get at each others throats and we can be at odds with certain members here, but we are all linked together by our love of the macintosh and everything that it does for us, what we do with it, and what it stands for...in our lives...for everybody, whether they be Macintosh users or not, every human being is affected by what Apple does and what the original Macintosh did. There are certain things in life that are just worth using the Macintosh, compared to putting yourself through a tough experience and having pittfalls along the way..with Apple its a joyous occassion (most of the time) and we all can relate to that here...we are all in some way devoted to computers and the way that the Mac works with each of us rather than us always dictating to it...THIS is why I love Apple, they are the best company in the world as fas as I am concerned..I dont care whether I sound cultish in saying all of this or not because it is true that Apple combines poetry, artistry, and feeling in all that they do. I sometimes try to see past Apple's mistakes because everybody makes mistakes..but Apple rarely makes one that impacts my user experience as drastically as some of the problems I experience everyday at school on PC's..The future IS in Apple's hands, they shape tech history because they innovate...the Macintosh is the realization and the form of that shape and innovation..nobody else can match Apple, Apple is still trying to match the original Macintosh..and maybe they did with the new iMac, Apple is on the way to greater success, I cant wait to see what else they have in store for us.
Apple is the way, The way is Apple.
What does "Macintosh" mean to each of you?

i believe he called you an immature, clueless, little boy.
its amazing that you can find such comraderie amongst some mac users who frequent a messageboard and yet can go out of your way to publicly humiliate one of your elders amongst people who dont even know her on the same messageboard.

Macintosh to me means Simplicity and Elegance, I believe this was in the design brief for the first Mac, and something which Apple has done a good job with ever since.
Macintosh reminds me I have the power to be creative beyond some usual boundaries.
Macintosh calms me down as it play soothing songs to me after a hard day or night at work.
Macintosh helps me organise my life, and makes me more productive.
Macintosh is Macintosh

For me it's the key to a door that leads to a puddle. It's fluid, wet, and different, but once you start stomping around it's party time.
Microsoft is the key to a door that leads to a deep dark pit filled with gold. You lust after the gleam and get lost in it.
Now imagine one of those keys is given to your young daughter or son. Exactly. Which one would you choose?

Good gods, NO! How could this be? I once thought Mac users were intelligent... artistic... wonderful people... but in truth... THEY ARE CULTISTS!!! They are the Freemasons, they are the Paparatzi, they are the Conspiracy to Overthrow the World With Voodoo Dolls and Burning Sticks! They're going to steal our children in the night and... and cast spells on them and turn them into TRENCHOATS in the name of Al Capone!
::finds self locked in asylum, surrounded by body-painted, chanting Mac users::
How dare you throw away your last shred of salvation! The Macintosh comes! HAVE MERCY ON US ALL!!!

something I wrote and have posted in other threads over time, but it fits here...
-------
(to the thread in general)
I think there are two "macness" thingies. (getting very untechnical here....)
1. The form or abstract of Macness as an adjunct of hyperreality, vis-a-vis the oblation of awareness into the realm of the "Forms" of Socrates, meaning such indivisible thought forms as Truth, Beauty, Cheezwhiz, Perry Como.
In this state, macness is the round end where the universe folds in upon itself and forces the time traveler become their own father.
For those uninitiated few, the through and through meme gels the galactic colloid at the arbitrary points of "Gem" "Thought" and "CPU".
2. A bunch of geeky guys in their basements.
wha? too obtuse? ok...(groans) here ya go...a serious answer:
1. macness used to be the rebel alliance against Darth Vader. It was cute, handy, facile, and powerful in its obscurity. It had princess leia AND macpaint zebra lady. It was cool in the extreme of cool, you know, that low down purple zanz that sits just on the other side of the street from where you are...close enough for you to WANT, too cool for you to HAVE.
er...I'm drifting again, arent I?
oh well.

A really good thing.

I much prefer a mac...absolutely. But I also use a win98 box and its usable.
Anymore, its like coke and pepsi, you have a brand preference but they're both sodas. If you are stuck in a room with a coke, and you're thirsty, you'll still drink it even though you prefer pepsi.

"Computer......OFF!".................uhh why isn't anything happening? The Mac isn't as revolutionary as you make it seem JoeG4, I mean Mac Zealot......its a good peice of hardware, not a wonder machine of epic proportions.
That said I do love the Mac, and to me it means I am free to be as expressive as possible, with the wealth of millions of other creative Mac users......instead of countless millions of computer nerds making desktops of naked women in M$ Paint......
