I do not believe the top menu bar can be changed at this point in time. you can give it a different look sometimes, but making it smaller or drastic changes are a no-go.

just look around in this forum or the os x - software forum for loads of info on themes.

I dont want to drastically change the menu bar, I just want to make it a different color, like some of the OS X desktop pics have in a previous thread.

You need to get a pxm# editor such as Sprocket and edit ID numbers 2028 and 2029 of the file located at:

/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Resources/Extras.rsrc

i find it kinda strange that osx is so resistant to customization... compared to win2k/xp at least. i mean, its the operating system for the most artistically inclined computers, yet Windows gets all the cool graphical shell replacements like Litestep and skinnable apps. My PC's desktop is so much more flexible than my Tibook's in terms of customizability = irony.

I've just partitioned my HD into 3. How can I change the HD icons so I have
1 - an X
2 - an OS9
as well as just a harddrive.

I think this on a theme topic. Just wondering what tools I would need and where I would get the icons from.

Thanks

There are some nice X icons at Xicons they have a hardisk section, so you can find your icons there. Also there is iconfactory.com

Don't forget to tell him the tools required: the Edit menu, the Copy item, and the Paste item. Also File:Get Info.

Having said that...

sorry for being so brain dead. But, after I've downloaded the icons I'm a bit stumped. I've tried copying, pasting, get info.
If I copy an icon that I've downloaded, how do I make that my new HD icon?

1. select file with new icon
2. Show Info
3. select the icon well in the info window
4. Copy
5. select the file to change (or drive, in this case)
6. select the icon well in the info window
7. Paste

Detailed enough for ya?

BTW, there is still a bug in the Finder where a hard drive icon may not properly refresh after you paste on a new one. Simply log out or force-quit the Finder and it will refresh just fine.

I don't know why no one has mentioned that there are LOTS of OSX themes at... http://xthemination.maccustomise.com/themes/
Maybe it's because this question gets asked almost every week, or because all the themers have gone to the OSX Software board.... http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ulti...f=37&SUBMIT=Go

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
