So I'm ripping a CD into iTunes with my new Core 2 Duo and I see it's going at 5.3-6.3x....

My old G4 733 got 11-12x when ripping a 320kbps MP3, what's the deal?

I read somewhere that the copy protection on Michael Bolton CDs isn't optimised for intel based macs. Encoding with Rosetta can be awfully slow.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

Slower optical drive, assuming your new Core2 Duo is in a laptop.
