Anyone else getting a kernel panic on sleep since the 14.5 update?
Apple updated sleep code with this update, for faster entry/exit. So a new bug is not surprising here.
Cheesegrater Mac Pro. Latest firmware, and SMC/PRAM both reset. Pulled my PCI cards, except for the GPU. No change. On the plus side, it does shut down and reboot faster, so I'm just working around the problem until 14.6 comes out.

For anyone interested, this issue (KP on sleep since 10.14.4 or 10.14.5) is caused by Apple not testing on older Xeons. This problem (and a recurring audio glitching problem) appear on Mac Pro 4,1 machines flashed to 5,1.
Although the logic boards are the same, the 4,1 MPs came with Bloomfield-series or Gainestown-series Xeons. CPU codes start with an E or W, followed by 35xx (single CPUs) or 55xx (dual-socket CPUs). Example: W5580 (Gainestown 3.2 GHz 4-core for dual-CPUs).
Upgrade CPUs to X56xx-series Xeon (for dual-CPU MacPro) and the problems go away. Example: X5690 (3.46 GHz 6-core for dual CPUs). This is the maximum CPU the cheesegraters can take. note: if you upgrade a 4,1 to a 6-core CPU, you *MUST* flash to 5,1 before the upgrade. Otherwise your MacPro will not boot.
It sucks that we have to do a hardware upgrade to fix a software problem. Hacks will probably be found to solve both issues. No workaround has been found yet for the sleep KP issue.
The audio glitching can be prevented by launching a native macOS game in window mode, leave it at the menu with sound turned off, and minimize. Oddly this works. Not all games will do the trick, board games in particular may not work. Some pro audio programs running in the background will also work.

Update. Later OS updates have not addressed the audio glitching issue. Same workaround remains: launch a game in window mode, and minimize it. Or upgrade to X56xx-series Xeon CPUs.
The 10.14.6 Supplemental Update addressed some sleep issues, and for me, greatly reduced the KPs on entering sleep. I found a personal workaround that 100% prevents KPs on entering sleep:
Run a multi-threaded app that forces CPU load to reach hyperthreading. ie - if your MP has 8 cores, go above 800% CPU load. Force-quit the app while the load remains high. Sleep will work normally until the next reboot. It is safe to re-open and use the app you used to implement the hack.
Reminder: the issues in this thread only affect 2009 Mac Pros (4,1) with dual processors flashed to 2010-2012 Mac Pro firmware. Which is required for native High Sierra and Mojave compatibility.
