The whole set-up of his act (that the interviewees don't know he's not a mad Kazakhstani journalist and hence the joke's on them) is ruined because he's now famous. Now, everyone seems to be in on it and plays along without seeing that the joke has died... So why's Borat dancing like a trained monkey for the media?

Borat and Regis!

It annoys me 'cos Cohen is such a clever guy. Check out some of his early Ali G stuff. He's razor sharp and lightning fast with the comebacks and improv. Such a shame to see him re-re-re-recycle his jokes and dance like said trained media monkey.

If you're going to commit to a character, you may as well continue playing along even after overexposing said character. I'm sure he'll retire Borat once he's thoroughly finished with it.

A comedic genius would already have found a way to turn the situation upside down with a new even more outrageous but unknown character, exploiting the comedic potential of the situation... like maybe, someone from Uzbekistan (an actor) who attacks Cohen when he's out of character... I'm pretty sure that's what Kaufman would've done...

Anyways, Cohen is dancing for the media's penny and it is the kiss of death for Borat's "edginess".

This is hardly the first time Cohen has used Borat (or one of his other characters) with people who are in on the joke.

I think the American sense of humor must be different to the British sense of humor.

With the popularity of Borat and the public's knowledge of Sacha Baren Cohen now, I'm wondering how he plans on pulling off the Bruno movie.
Everyone knows who Sacha is now and I think it'd be a lot easier to find information about him, his characters, and Bruno's authenticity now that Borat is so famous. I thought maybe they would've filmed Bruno soon after Borat, or before he became too well known, but imdb.com says they're busy filming Bruno now.

Either way, it should be interesting to see how the Bruno movie works out.

Jagshemash!

My name a Jonny the Monkey, #1 most famous celebrity in all Kazakhstan. Good friend Borat - who list Jonny as favorite televisions star on hims Myspaces page - still #4 most famous, even after great success movie film...

You show video film Borat and Regis that look new, but is really from time when Borat first make promotion of movie film in Novembers 2006. Exact same already on Youtubes and show date from that time...
YouTube - Regis Meets Borat

Also say "So why's Borat dancing like a trained monkey for the media" - Borat not dance like monkey and stealing Jonnys act... he good friend Jonny, and even have me appears with him on opening skit last Novembers "Saturday Nights Live".

So ME best trained monkey for media in Kazakhstan. Jonny also host popular childrens TV show and star in many pornos film, including recent blocks buster "King Khram" which already break box offices record and earn over 300 of your U.S. dollars! *High Five*

Chenquieh.

Jagshemash, tooth picking Charlie!

You make same mistake many make in the presses about good friend Borat too... but rest sure that not Borat or Jonny be same person as that dirty Sanchez Baron Cohen!

Cohen be riding Borat coats tail for many years now - make lots of money for produce "Ali G" show where Borat work as Kazakh reporter. He even steal thunder by accept Goldens Globe award for Borat on stage and television! ...although Borat not in U.S. and A. at that time anyway because attend Holocaust denial conference in Iran...

BTW, Borat just sign agreement make travel guide for glorious nation of Kazakhstan and also guide for insignificant nation U.S. and A. It come out in Fall season and Jonny ask you keep eyeballs and testes satchel crossed that it be great success!

What else could Cohen possibly do with the character since the movie made $260,455,286 worldwide? Almost everyone knows about Borat now. New character coming up, and I'm not sure that Bruno is going to work out.
