You can use the older, bigger 85W brick wither newer MBP right?

I just got a new MBP with the smaller 85W power adapter, but I have a spare adapter that is the larger version that originally shipped when I got a 17" MBP 2 years ago. They are the same specs so they can be used interchangeable right?
I know, stupid question probably. I just want to be sure.

Assuming the pin-outs are the same you should have no problem using a higher wattage adaptor with the lower wattage MB. The wattage is the maximum draw that will be supported.

The old 85 W adapter will work perfectly fine with a new MBP. In fact it will work just fine with any MBP or MB.

I use mine interchangeably with a newer, smaller brick. Works great.

3 power supplies at $79 = $237. Applecare = $249 or $349.
I think Applecare is a better buy.

oh yeah, if u are within 1000 km of an apple repair center, or u can live without ur macbook pro for more then 24 hours. I personally have 2 now, 3 have gone bad under warranty. but maybe i am being bitter, sorry.

Not necessary. Just find a decent AASP. Whenever I had any hardware issues I would bring my Mac to the AASP and he would diagnose it within an hour. I'd take my Mac back home and keep on using it. A couple of days later when he had received the replacement parts I would bring it in again and he'd do the swap within another hour. Of course that only works if your Mac isn't totally dead. But in such a case you will be able to rent a Mac from a decent AASP for the time being. I did all this with my AASP as a regular private customer, not as a business customer. You just need to find a really good AASP. I understand that might not be easy in Nepal, but for most people on this board it should be possible.
