I need to record streaming and archived video from various sources -- mostly TV news stations that archive their broadcasts. How can I do this?
Thanks!

ASFRecorderX for some WMV, cli mplayer with the -dumpstream enabled for RM. Though I've found that the mmsclient in ASFRecorder doesn't always work, WMRecorder is far more consistent, though it's a Windows app.

Thanx for advice guys! I have no connection to TV source, so all video I'm trying to access is via browser and TV station Websites.

You could screen capture, if I understand what you are trying to do. Check out iShowU.

Thanks adamfishercox. I just downloaded IShowU and tried to capture archived broadcast. Had trouble shutting IShowU down and tried several times to open IShowU-Capture.mov file that appeared on screen but it causes Quicktime to crash. Also causes Command-I (get info) to crash. Then tried to register the demo and was asked for the password to my email account!
Maybe I'd better read the manual )
