My dad has an imac lab. I've started up off the OS Cd but I cant do anything because the hard drive is locked. What is the easiest way of unlocking it? I cant boot up normally because there in an Appleshare unimplemented trap during startup. TIA.

Open the Script Editor and enter the following script:

tell application "Disk Copy"
set locked of disk "Macintosh HD" to false
end tell

Change Macintosh HD to the name of the hard disk. It will ask for the location of Disk Copy:it is in the Utilities folder. This will NOT work with a Revision A iMac (8.1 CD.)
