in the best traditions of the westminster home for the terminally senile [AKA house of lords, london], i should like to propose an 'umble motion...

"that this house declares OS9 to be without doubt the worst operating system ever to emerge from the purveyor of calculating devices known as apple"

[yes or no, folks!]

You have a short memory. Can't you remember System 7.5, 7.5.1, 7.5.2, 7.5.3, and 7.5.5?

Now those were terrible operating systems.

I haven't had problems with Mac OS 9.

Worst operating system ever?!? Absolutely not! I updated the OS on my iMacDV from 8.6 to 9 without even a hiccup. And it's been smooth sailing the entire time. I have a USB hub, a gamepad, the Iomega Zip100, and an Espon 740 printer all hooked up too, and none of them have given me any grief.

And as far as completely avoiding OS9 (or any upgrade) because of horror stories you've read on forums and tech exchanges, the next millenium will roll around before an OS is ever released that doesn't send some people running into the streets screaming that the sky is falling.

If you think people are having troubles making the transition from 8.6 to 9, just wait until OSX arrives this summer (personally, I can hardly wait. You can bet that I'll be pre-ordering OSX whenever Apple makes it available.)
