The best iMac... will be the invisible iMac. Because that's what we want - we don't want to look at our computer, we want to look at our screen. Apple is afraid of that, they don't want to be put underneath the desk.
So they integrated the computer with the screen. Why didn't they choose the other option, which goes back a long time, before the Lamp, the first iMac, and the original Macintosh? I'm referring to the Apple II - a computer integrated with the keyboard, just like the Commodore 64. It would be much less bulky then the original, in fact it could be the one half of an iBook! Just connect it to the screen of your choice. And, a keyboard is much cheaper then a screen, so it wouldn't be a great loss to upgrade after a year or two, and start with a fresh keyboard.

Not a bad idea. However, some people like to have keyboards be mobile, as the trend in wireless, light keyboards is going.
You may be on to something, though... a return to the Apple II. The drives wouldn't have to be slowed down... and keyboards do get grungy after awhile. With the keyboard, though, you could even have the keyboard easily snap off to replace the top, too.

Indeed, they did precisely this with the Apple IIc ... a vey nifty little machine at the time.
But more seriously, light, wireless KBs seem to be the future. Though I really hate having to worry about batteries!

The best iMac (and PowerMac) is yet to come. It will be the _camouflaged_
iMac and I don't mean combat army-dress blotchy, I mean like the
octopus, grouper, chameleon: changing color to match the background (or not),
having waves of color sweep over the surface moment-to-moment, or moving
words, pictures, anything visual.
Apple recently bought a company, used its technology, and came out with a
patented enclosure design employing a clear case with little color diodes inside,
facing out. Imagine the possibilities! This will sell like hotcakes in 2005 or 6.
Time Magazine will not be able to do a cover story on this, they'll have to do a
