Adding an SD card means fiddling is required, and Apple is staunchly anti-fiddling.
There's no fiddling. Apple can extend their ALAsset API. I'll bet most people here don't even know what the ALAsset API is.

Right, and after I'm done taking video and pull the SD card out to transfer it to my iMac, how does the ALAsset API help the fact that I didn't fiddle with the phone and set it to save video files to the SD card? And then what do I do if I've chosen a poor quality SD card with low speeds and my video quality suffers?

Because I said the SD card would be read only. Apple can do that easily. I had already stated that above.

Right, but a read-only SD card solves zero problems expressed by others in this thread.

Wrong. I said:
I had to remove the last of my HD movies from my iPhone 6+ because I was running out of room. Nope, screw that. I want an SD card option.

Simple. My movies and music go on the card, leaving the phone free for dynamic content like pictures and videos I take with the camera.

Sure I do! It's right next to the Johnson rod.
I'll PayPal $5 to whoever gets that reference without googling.

Oh.
Sounds like a perfect opportunity for...somebody else. Like an SD card reader and an app that can read from that. Buy them; they exist.

Such language! Don't go to a new mechanic, obviously

I've got a wireless hard drive for those occasions. 2TB, full of music and movies. We use it for the kids when we go camping, or on long road trips.

That's pretty crappy if you're shooting video on your phone on the go and don't want to deal with a dongle and juggle USB drives, readers, and full-size SD cards. I just pop in an extra 128GB, which is 2hrs of 4k video, and swap as needed. No hassles.

The removable part is nice because then you can just throw the card away afterwards rather than pretend you'll watch two hours of vacation videos.

It would be kinda nice if Apple did a video Prosumer version of the iPhone with 512gb of storage, and/or removable storage and maybe a thunderbolt connection to load it to your Mac.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

That was not the suggested scenario.
Starman specifically suggested read-only to avoid the software fiddling.
That already exists.

So? Existing solutions are more flexible than what you're looking for (good luck finding a 2 TB SD card), and plugging in a cable is actually less fiddly than swapping an SD card - not to mention wifi solutions. No dongle there.
Use case is covered, end of story.

Battery life of the watch appears to be going up. Plugged it in at over 60% last night.

At the end of a day of medium use mine is at ~30%, that's not too bad. It's worse than my LG Urbane, the endurance champ at 3 days between charges, but it isn't terrible, it does charge up very quickly, however.

Got a late beta of the Tesla Watch app and it's pretty damned awesome stuff. Almost everything you can do with the car, aside from drive it, you can control with the Watch (like you can with the iOS app). I nearly had a nerdgasm while tinkering with it.

I'm at 99.9%, only because I've gone 15 or so years without a watch, it's been so liberating.

Interesting you say that about working out. Again, this is another example of where the watch doesn't do much, but what it does it does just right. I've set it to a certain level of activity per day, with a reminder kicking in if I don't hit that goal.

Do you take the "time to stand up" recommendations seriously? If you work a job which requires a lot of desk time, I could see this actually being a decent motivator to get off the ol' butt for a few minutes.

"Time to stand up" happens at THE most inconvenient times.
Skype call for work
Playing H1Z1
Literally right after I mowed the lawn and sat to eat lunch (WTF?)
In the movie theater
etc.

A friend of mine has one of those smart desks, that changes height ever so often to make you get up out of your seat. THAT would drive me nuts.

Agreed- they need to tweak this somehow. It always notifies me to stand while I'm driving...

I do take them seriously (unless in the car). I just get up and take a lap around the office and then back to my desk.
