Anyone know when or if Apple plans on upgrading folks that buy a machine after OS 10.3 is announced, but not released? I'm sitting on the edge of a new PowerMac, but I don't want to spend another 129$ in 2 months to upgrade the OS. I guess I just need to add that to the waiting game....
My Pismo is getting a bit long in the tooth.

no one knows for sure what the upgrade policy will be until apple announces it. if they stick to past practice, purchasers of apple computers after the official announcement of 10.3's shipping date can get the new version for just the shipping/handling fee.
(next time please search the forum first....this has been asked/answered several times already..... )

If it's been answered, how come there's no answer? I know the general policy. I wanted to know if it had been announced yet. Thanks for your helpful sarcasm.

if you wanted to know if it had been announced, why didn't you just look at apple's website? you know, they do tend to make things like that quite visible there.

I did look. The absence of information didn't give me an answer to my question. Thank you for being so helpful. Why did you reply if it was so beneath you? I was just curious if anyone had heard anything official.
Last time I couldn't find it on their website, but some people knew about it.

Like it was said before, your question was already asked and answered just a few days ago here, and a few days before that, and so on.
You'll know when Apple makes an announcement. It will be on Apple's site and every single Mac news site will also cover it.

Okay, granted Apple would release such information on their website if it was readily available. Nonetheless, what's the answer?

He didn't have one. He just wanted to point out how stupid I was for not knowing.

Normally it's free if you buy a new computer or the current release after Apple announces a definitive shipping date for the new release. I hope that makes sense

No. I don't bet 129.00$ on the whims of "Normally". Especially when it's Apple's "Normally." So in my book, no. There has not been an answer to my question:
Anyone know when or if Apple plans on upgrading folks that buy a machine after OS 10.3 is announced, but not released?
There won't be an answer until Apple announces what they're doing, and/or someone knows and tells. I'm assuming you're all trying to be helpful, and not trying to belittle me. Thanks for the opinions.

Again, the answer is in this thread. Read the first response. No one knows until Apple announces it.
