Our office wanbts to buy some AL PowerBooks, but we cannot have either AirPort cards or BlueTooth capability. Since these are now stardard in the PowerBooks can the BlueTooth hardware be taken out? I know the AirPort is still on a PC Card and will come out, but I'm not ssure if the BlueTooth device is on a separate card or opart of the mmotherboard.

You would probably have to BTO the powerbooks from Apple if that is the case.

Since they are standard I'm not sure if Apple will take them out, I'll have to give them a call to see.

Here's a question - why are you not allowed to have bluetooth/airport, but still allowed to use a Powerbook? (that could be moved out of the building easily, etc.)
Wouldn't they be more secure (and cost efficient, and powerful) if they went with iMacs?
If Apple won't do a BTO though, you might be able to get a deal with a local retailer to remove the cards for resale and/or just remove the cards and allow the firm to resell them on ebay or something...

Security and government regulations prohibit us from even having such wireless devices in our computers. We're not worried about PowerBooks gone missing...trust me on that one ;-)
On a positive note, I just spoke with Apple and can order the PowerBooks with both AirPort and BlueTooth cards removed.

Just FYI: AirPort cards have never actually been PC Card. The original AirPort cards were modified PC Cards, and the AirPort Extreme card is mini-PCI.

I'm curious because it'd be the first I've heard of on Macs.
