Unfortunately, no.

Driver seems to be the only title that might fill part of that gap (the gap being the lack of *good* [keyword 'good'] racing games on Mac)...but it seems so early in development and so open-source that we might never see a user-friendly and non-weekly-upgraded version of it if we ever see a decent working version in the next year or so.

It's been "coming soon" for quite a while. So long, in fact, that it seems they've dropped the original Formula 1 2000 name.

It's due out on 10 September.

It looks good. If I remember correctly, they've spent a lot of time grappling with proprietary EA libraries and such like, so they've had plenty of time to do some optimising.

It's a little old for sure...but it'll do. But I won't believe it's coming to OS X (or OS 9?) 'till I see it in stores. Remember, a games not coming to MacOS unless it's already on MacOS. I've learned that through Halflife, Tribes 2, Worms 3, and countless other games that were Mac-bound.

Well I talked with the Feral representatives at Macworld NY and they said that it would be 3 months from then, thus mid-october.
That's the bad news. On the other end the had a beta version that was running and that you could play with. I was not impressed by the graphics, but the game is very realistic. My biggest complaint would be the numerous jagged edges. If there was a way to enable anti-aliasing that would be sweet.

Never fear the game IS on its way and will look and feel alot better than Beta 4 which was a sound bug release.

If you own Jag (10.2) it should look even better.

The current sheduled release date is Sep 10.

If you havn't already guessed the beta testers slots for that game are full. But don't fear when testers are needed for games a post will be dropped off here.

I had a game called Test Drive 2 on my LC 475 back in the Ol' days. I loved it. It had an option for clutch, so you actually had to push the clutch in when you wanted to shift. Then I got Carmageddon...what a difference. Smashed every car I could. I played Carma II as well, lot of fun. Racer seems to be a nice game, but it is still in an early stage. Driver is nice, but Classic only. Formula 1 seems very promising. Hopefully its hw reqs. are not too high.

Nov 18th then...or will it be delayed until 24th of December...of next year?

F1 will not exist anymore by the time the game comes out...

I wish they at least had the time to update the teams, who remembers which teams drivers belonged to in 2000?

I got a question...why does the demo suck so bad?

Normally demos persuade people to buy the full game but this demo just made me decide I won't be buying it.

People were right when they said this game is dated.

The graphics suck.
The sound is terrible.
The physics in that game is awful.
No HID support.

While I can't judge the demo port...I wouldn't be surprised if the full game wasn't a neat little bundle but rather the big pile of files mess that I see when I install the game.

Sorry...this isn't my type of game and F1 racing is the type of racing I like best. There's definitely something wrong if I can loathe a game (that I should normally love) so much.

No HID suppport?

I have been playing f1 2000 here with a logitek steering wheel fine.

As for difficulty go to the options changes here can make the game more realistic.

p.s. use the pg up/pg down, begin/end and home/del keys to control view points.

I'll give it a try.

I'll have to experiment more with my MacAlly iShock II. Last I checked I couldn't get the input config setup to register the gamepad's buttons.

Does F1 2000 support analog steering? (of course, this sucks with a gamepad but an analog steering wheel would be really cool. How's that Logitech steering wheel anyways?)

Edit: Argh...I forgot I removed the GeForce 2MX drivers in an attempt to troubleshoot the Weirdest Computer Problem I've Ever Seen. I'll have to wait to make sure this fixes the problem...can't play any OpenGL games until then.

So which wheel should I be buying in anticipation of the eventual release of force feedback?

Logitech MOMO?
Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP?

The only wheel that Logitech claims to have Mac support is the Wingman Formula GP. However, this wheel does not have force feedback.

I would like to buy a wheel with force feedback now (even if force feedback doesn't work at this time). What do you recommend? What wheel are you using?

Thanks.
