Another site for unpacking pics...

http://mac.kinkykoala.com/

Ugh... Look at this pic of the underside of the machine. Looks like the MacBook is the first Mac with STICKERS. Is Apple cost cutting going to far? On second thought, is this a demo machine with an asset tracking sticker or something?

http://mac.kinkykoala.com/mbp-pagina...eelding10.html

Looks like the battery no longer features the LED lights for showing current charge.

The shots look like the pictures were taken at Apple. Those stickers are tracking bar codes for employee issued computers. I don't think we will see these on ours.

The battery is upside down. I am pretty sure they wouldn't have removed those lights. I guess we'll find out in a few days since a lot of people have started to receive shipping confirmations.

Bingo. In fact, I believe that since you can read the "Apple Development Team" label pretty clearly, I'd say a certain member of said team (whoever was assigned this particular machine) should start getting his resumé together!

Perhaps Apple allowed these to be posted, to keep all of us who are STILL waiting to buy one or receive an already placed order excited or at least occupied. Otherwise they would have deleted the thread all together on the Apple forums.

"60-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery (with integrated charge indicator LEDs) (1)"

From http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/whatsinside.html

The battery in that picture is upside down. Apple's site has a picture of it with the indicators:

Yeah, those are nice. I'm not sure that pictures of Apple products would create problems. People saw MBPs over a month ago and touched them.

Obviously you haven't been a Mac fan very long. The opening box pictures is tradition on Mac forums.

I understand when people buy a new apple product, it will be excited because of its packaging and styling but this is way off....

the book has the same design and the same black box, i agree with others, it is nothing to be excited.

I'm usually way to excited to take pictures when I open a Mac box. So you'll have to picture it in your head when I open my 2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5 box on monday.

Yes, god forbid we should see images of something that looks to all intents and purposes identical to all the other AlBooks out there...

Let me see......
A new Box design that is smaller, with a different shape
New foam packing inside
No paper manual
Disks in a cardboard enclosure
Apple remote
Possibly a new size power brick
The hinge is different (possible enclosure for Airport Extreme?)
Different battery design
Memory access under battery bay.

So what's the same?

It's made out of aluminum.
It has the letters "Book" in the name.
It has a keyboard.

sometimes people around here should be smacked. Anything else won't work. IN THE PICTURE THE BATTERY IS UPSIDE DOWN. on the otherside is the little LED BUTTONS JUST LIKE THE OLD BATTERY.

IF YOU SPENT 20 seconds looking at the spec page at apple.com you would know that.

As for the box itself, Apple sends a message that they have thought of everything using precision. It is intended to be an experience, though of course they don't want to waste your money or increase the price of the products. I wonder if there's an Apple Packaging Artist position.

Yes, this is on the MacBook Pro webpage and is how they were able to make the lid slimmer and make the closed computer 1 inch tall.

Different battery design
Actually, the battery looks the same to me. What is different about it?

Memory access under battery bay.
It's been like that for a long time.

The post I replied to was saying there is nothing new to look at in the open box photos. I noticed for the first time the different material used on the hinge.

Actually, the battery looks the same to me. What is different about it?
It's larger and positioned in a different place.

It's been like that for a long time.
Do you own a Powerbook? The memory on a PB is accessed through a seperate panel.

The thing you think is the memory module under the battery isn't a memory module.

Gee. I was corrected earlier in the thread, and realize I posted without looking carefully. Thanks for chiming in with the insults, though. Sorry for wasting your time, making you angry, and inspiring you to stop whatever you were doing to chastise me. Do try to enjoy the rest of your day.
