Hello and welcome to our forums. Please do not use all caps, that makes it harder to read.
It can be a lot of things wrong. We will be better able to help you if you tell us which model iMac you have. Is it white or aluminium? PowerPC or Intel x86? What size is the display?
One possible solultion is resetting the SMC or SMU depending on exactly which model you have.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Then I suggest first trying to reset the SMC with the help of the link above. After that, see if you can boot into diagnostics.
