Hello All,
I just moved into a new apartment and we got Cable internet. I have a linksys modem and wireless router. It works great when my ibook is connected directly to the modem, however I cannot get it to work at all when I connect it through the router. It is definately all connected correctly, I'm stumped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you changing your network connection settings when you switch between the router and the direct connection ?? You should be ...
All of the login/PPPoE stuff you have to use to connect directly with the modem should NOT be used when connecting through the router. All the login stuff (usernames, passwords) should be configured into the router and then you just set your iBook to connect via DHCP (and REMOVE any of the username/password stuff from the iBook itself). "Connect using PPPoE" (on the PPPoE tab of network preferences) would be turned ON when directly connecting iBook to modem but be turned OFF when connecting the iBook through your router.

I am not sure what to change the settings to. I am currently connected via DHCP, connect using PPPoE is not turned on. I don't have any username or password either.

Hmmmm ... next thing then would be to check your router settings .. sounds like your ibook is fine.
Also ... what does your networking/ethernet tab say about your IP ?? There should be information on the TCP/IP tab (where you chose DHCP) that shows your local IP, the Subnet mask and the local IP of the router. Is all of that information present (it would have been supplied automatically by the router, BTW).

Unplug the power to the modem and router. Wait a minute. Plug the MODEM in. Wait for it to initialize (watch the lights). Then plug in the router and try connecting.
