I'm with you. The unibody is a better deal.

The 7200RPM drive is the only advantage of the older model, but you can pick up a 500GB for half the price difference. Take the 2.53.

I'm not even really planning on getting one, just kind of feeling around. But this was just really strange to me, I thought I had to have been missing some key distinguishing feature.

I'd agree - I actually just bought a refurb unibody 2 weeks ago, and it has been great so far. Just feels more solid, unlike some of the older ones.

I picked up a refurb 2.4GHz unibody MBP 15" for $1349 which was delivered yesterday. Other than the packaging, I couldn't tell it wasn't a new laptop. I will say my new MBP feels worlds better than my PowerBook G4 ever did. The top lies flat and even across the top of the bottom of the MBP (PBG4 owners should know what I mean) and it feels much more solid.

The older model also has 512mb of video ram vs. 256 in the unibody.
