Hello all.. my macbook has been throwing a fit the past couple days. I have tried most things, I even ran the system disk and did a reinstall. No luck.

Anyway, my type is going crazy mostly in ichat, some in mac mail and some in safari. Here are some examples.. any help would be HUGELY appreciated:

have you fiddled with your fonts lately?...

seems like youve either opened a bad font or closed it...either or, reset your normal system fonts in whatever font software youre using.

is there a quick easy way to do that? I was using suitcase fusion up until a week ago and then it kept crashing, I have been trying to go back to fontbook.

As iREZ says you could have a bad font(s) - try starting you machine in Safe Boot mode as it will trash you Font Caches for you and then restart.

Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

otherwise you'll need to remove/turn off any unusual fonts as they may be clashing for the standard fonts.

start by removing any fonts in your Home folder/Library/Fonts and then restart.

There's also this application:
jpietry : FontNuke

It's free and should do the trick.
