A lighter touch in the Lounge requires cooperation between members and moderators, hence the friendly warnings. Maybe the third time's a charm: Let. It. Go.

Speaking of gas prices, the Citgo in the humble part of my city has lowered the 87-octane stuff to $3.34/gal.

Now I'm curious what it is over here. It's usually lower than the national average, but last I check (a week maybe) it was in the low 3.40s

There's a Dodge's Chicken and Gas place on Jefferson here... $3.01 for regular. Several days before Hurricane Ike came through Texas, they went up to over 5 for regular. I contacted the Gov's office and they investigated them. They got a 50k fine or something like that. Talk about karma.

Tell everyone you know to boycott that place unless he/she is selling gas at $2.75/gal.

It just dropped to under $3.10 here. I paid about $3,40 for my delicious 93 octane premium.

I got this via SMS the other night:

"4th gear, wide open throttle, approaching 5K revs, roughly 120mph, car gets super loose"

What does "loose" mean in the context of a speeding car?

Does your friend keep you on an SMS distribution list? If so, he/she needs to start twittering.

No he does not. Godfather do you watch any form of racing? Loose generally means the rear tires are not hooking up. They're spinning, without ability to grab the road and propel the car forward.

I had a hunch it meant that. Is he going to shop for fatter tires now?

BTW. How much is gas over there?

He's got a 345mm wide rear tire on a 12 inch wide wheel. They don't get much bigger.

Dunno about premium for the vette, but I got some regular last night about $3.60/gal.

Ehh...close. Oversteer and understeer are generally used to describe a vehicle's behavior in a turn. A car with too much power can "get loose" even in a straight line.

True. I suppose there is no inside tire in a straight line

Well, there shouldn't be. But I'd hate to have an accidental "inside tire" at 120.
