There is a neat way to do this in Terminal.
First, in your Finder, navigate to your Time Machine home folder.
Second, open a new Terminal, type
cd
and a space (but not return), and drag the Time Machine home folder into the Terminal window. Then hit Return.
Third, type
open
followed by a space, and a period: open .
and hit Return. Your hidden Library folder will be active, and from there, you can use Time Machine.

Or if someones afraid of using Terminal you can Hold down "alt" & click Finder>Go.
This will bring up Library, now you can enter TM which will keep the Finder view of Library.

Thanks Dark, definitely don't want to be in terminal, but where do I start with this, desktop?
Also how do I subscribe to a thread? My email notification keeps bouncing back to not notify.

Ha. I never knew Alt + Go would show the Library.
I just made it a habit to unhide it every time it disappears.
Terminal:
Code:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
-t

The email address you have on file with the forums is outdated. Whenever you subscribe, the emails bounce to the admin mailbox. I then wipe the subs to reduce spam emails going out, which could get us black listed. And to reduce the number of error bounces clogging the admin box.
Go to your User CP link in the nav bar. Update your email address. The board will send a confirm email to the new address. Click the activation link inside that email. After, subscribe to threads as usual and it will work.

Thanks Reader.
The alt key is basically the option key correct? So when you release that key, library is gone? Is there a way to make it so the library is never hidden? Who am I hiding it from. I'm the one home. And the the dropdown seem to disappear after a few seconds, so still lost.

See the post by turtle above. That is the command to unhide ~/Library.
|
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Can you ask an Admin to do it ?
I think the Admin would need to be logged into your (basic) User account, and then sudo the command:
Code:
sudo chflags nohidden ~/Library/
Anyone done that before ?

I like invisibliX. It is a free utility to hide or unhide any file or folder.

Thanks Reader, do you know if it will keep the library unhidden? What are some examples you use it for? I've heard of it, but never could figure out real world examples for using it. Then I still need to proceed to the TM issue!

Library will stay unhidden at least until the next OS update. I mostly use it to unhide stuff Apple hides.
As to other uses, you could use it to hide a folder with confidential files in it. Like your Swiss bank account login info. Not very good security though, a password-protected disk image would be worlds better.

Ok, thanks, but, Thanks Reader, do you know if it will keep the library unhidden? You think the next OS we can go back to library unhidden?

Or to put it another way, when you are in Finder, hold the Option key down, click on Go at the top of the screen, and in the drop down menu which appears click on Library. A Finder window will open into Library, then release the Option key.
Once you remember this trick, you can get to Library anytime, so there is no need to 'unhide' it.
BUT, remember that it is hidden for a reason, and should not be messed with unless you are sure of what you are doing.

Andrew, nice explanation. So done. Anyway, turns out, just putting things from library in sidebar does the trick for TM access as well.
