Hi folks,

I just used Facetime for the first time with a friend. I'm on a 2011 Macbook Pro, she's on an iPhone 5. The video worked great. However, audio-wise, although we could both hear each other talk, when I talked I couldn't hear her speak. It was as if my talking was enabling some kind of mute button.

Is that how it's supposed to work? I thought it would be two-way simultaneous audio, like a normal phone call.

Well that's unusual given that FaceTime is supposed to have full duplex (simultaneous 2-way) audio and video. What is your connection speed? Is either side laggy or running too many apps at once?

I don't think it's a question of running too many apps at once. I could make another attempt at some point to test I suppose. My connection speed is 20Mbps down, 1Mbps up; I think my friend is on some kind of Fiber connection. Definitely not a connection speed issue (pretty sure, anyway).
