Just got iphone 6.
Went to icloud.com, and selected all 100 photos, downloaded, but it was a real mess and I had to force quit Firefox.
Got a lot of .part files on the desktop, after watching it chug along for 10 minuets.
Any quick/ efficient way to do this? Lost. thanks.

Just use iPhoto. Photostream automatically shows up as an album in iPhoto if it's turned on.

I assume that the photos are still on your phone and you want to move it to your computer?
You can use iPhoto or Image Capture (preferred method for removing select images). Connect iPhone to Mac via lightning to USB cable first.

Don't think we are making much progress here. iphoto does not even launch. and Apple want to replace it with Photo, but in icloud, don't see easy way to download quickly off the iphone.

Steps:
1) Connect iPhone to Mac via cable
2) Launch Image Capture
3) Select one or images on right side of panel of Image Capture
4) Click Import or Import All
5) Optional: Select directory on Mac of where to store the images
6) There is no step 6

Thanks Mind,
Image Capture bring up device scanner, don't see preference so I'm lost there. This app always drives me batty.
Preview, did not work either, only import offering is the same scanner!

Is your iPhone physically connected to your Mac via a cable?

Nothing happens when I plug the iphone to the computer.
Nothing with dropbox at all, and even when I open itunes it says itunes could not connect to the phone because the device timed out.
It says that always no matter when or how I plug it in.

When you open Image Capture, select Device Settings. That will allow you to set the default behavior of your Mac when you connect your iPhone. You should be able to select from a number of different apps to handle your phone's pictures, along with having the option to simply download the pictures to your Pictures folder.
The drawback with the latter is that it will download every picture EVERY time you connect the phone, even if all the pictures have already been downloaded. I freed up a butt-load of space by deleting duplicate downloads and then changing to iPhoto to handle my pictures.
One big benefit (for me) of using iPhoto is that it will offer to remove the picture from your phone when it downloads it. I take pictures with my phone for a lot of reasons, and I have apps that also take photos (and don't always clean up after themselves), so things "accumulate" pretty quickly...

G THANKS.
I don't what you see, but I don't see "device settings"
Maybe you have a screenshot for us.
It list my Epson scanner, without me ever inputting or selecting it. It automatically warms up and starts the scanner without me asking or
wanting that.
This is how image capture has always been in the 15 years I've seen it. I never been able to control anything about it. It drives me crazy.

No. iPhoto is the main photo app. iTunes isn't required. When you connect your phone to iPhoto, it looks like just another camera.

You've got bigger problems if you can't see your phone in iTunes. You might need to restore it.

I agree with the "you've go bigger problems" theory. If your signature here is up to date, I'd put all my money on 10.6 being the problem. It's ancient and not going to play nice with any recent apps; iOS or otherwise.
