I'm not sure if the lounge is the right place to post this, but none of the other forums seem appropriate.

I very recently purchased an Apple product and decided (stupidly in retrospect) to register it. Now I need to return it, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what I shoud do...

Apple doesn't seem too serious about their product registration, as there don't seem to be any formal facilities for transferring registration to another individual (in the event of selling your mac to someone else), and their website says "4. I made a mistake in my registration. How do I change it? Please go back to www.apple.com/register and reregister with the current information". However, I'm still would like to try and unregister the product I purchased before I return it.

I've already tried emailing [email protected], but haven't received a response yet (2 days).

Any suggestions or recollections of related personal experiences would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
infiniti

Don't worry about it. If they think you have a product, and you don't...so what?

There is no point in worrying about registration unless you're talking about AppleCare. I called about this just a bit ago, and they said they don't care who it's registered to; as long as a machine is within its first year they will service it no matter who brings it in. If you're talking AppleCare, then you have to send them a letter saying you agree to transfer the contract to so-and-so.

Just walk in the store backwards, to the
counter, speak in reverse, hand back
the product with the opposite hand and
then you will not only be free of any
registration, if you walk around your
wife you will also be divorced in
some states.

Sometimes, registration just means "Put me on your mailing list" and nothing more.

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).
