I have a new G4/500 and got home (in out-fo-the-way area), and realize I have no disk for the DVD-Ram. No one locally even knows of what I speak!! Any advice as to what brand etc. to ask for before I try mailorder. Thank you.

Buy.com had Hi Val brand 5.2gb double sided media for $15 last winter...they're now up to $26.
CNET's Shopper has a list of DVD media and prices: http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/0-1...lst.list_12493

They are out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their prices are comparable and a little cheaper than Mac Warehouse and Mac Zone. A friend of mine, Clancy works there and can help. Double sided discs are the way to go. More bang for your buck, not too mention 5.2 Gig total for storage (2.6 GB on each side)!

One thing to mention about double-sided disks: they're not removable from cartridge. This means that if you intend to use them in a Generation 3 DVD-ROM drive, you're out of luck. Single sided type 1 (I think) disks, on the other hand, can be removed from cartridge and put in Gen. 3 DVD-ROMs such as those in the iMac, Pismo, and G4.
