For all my looking, I can't seem to find anything that discusses what if any changes might possibly be made to the iPod Touch during next week's conference. Either my searching skills are sub-par, or there's no reason to believe that the iPod Touch will be changing at the same time as the iPhone.
Can anyone provide any links to information that indicates what might change with the iPod Touch next week?
I'm sitting on a stack of gift cards, waiting for the "new, updated" iPod Touch that might not even exist...someone, please, justify my waiting, or end my misery!
Please note, this may include hardware or software changes, or modifications to the price.
Thanks,
Matthew

I am very curious about this same question. It's time for me to get an iPod Touch

It will probably be September when the touch is updated.

Yeah, I would bet that the touch would come out later. They will want the iPhone to get all of the attention, and be the lone shining star.

I don't think we will see an updated iPod until the back to school promotion ends. September maybe?

The touches should benefit from the SDK though, just like the iPhone.

You guys are raining on my parade.
I was hoping for an updated iPod touch. Really or at least the updated firmware/software AND a price drop. Hopefully at least they drop the prices, that would be enough for me to spring for one.

Price drop is unlikely unless the iPhone gets one.

No real major reason for an iPod Touch hardware update. Software, sure and that's coming. But hardware, it only needs more storage.

Depends on what the capacity the new iPhone is, but I'd take a guess at software 2.0 and dropping the prices down a notch (so the 32GB is £269 and the 16GB is £199), 8GB might die or be education only through the back to school offer. Then in September the iPod touch 2 will be announced.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

We might be looking at a situation where the iPhone is cheaper then the Touch. Wasn't it released that Apple makes something like $500 for 2 years worth of subscription fees from AT&T?
It would be somewhat odd to see a much more feature filled device cost less, but it makes some sense.

Exactly. Telecom companies have no need to subsidize the Touch.

At a cost, no doubt.

Well, OK, shoot. So it sounds like no new iPod Touch hardware on Monday. :-(
That still doesn't mean I'm not totally excited about dropping four Benjamins on one on Monday! I'm especially interested in developing some web apps for it. The demos on Apple's site made it look like you can create sweet native-looking web apps without a whole lot of hassle.
It's been a while since I had my 2nd generation 10GB iPod...it'll be nice to get back into an iPod and replace my dusty old Dell Axim with a much sexier PDA. (Do people ever refer to the iPod Touch as a PDA? Sure seems like it is one...)

$20 for the SDK on the touch is nothing considering what kind of possibilities it open up. Yet a hole bunch of idiots will have to bitch about it on the web forever.

I was one of those who complained about the January update, but I think this is more worth it. The January update just basically uncovered features that were already there, this update actually adds new stuff and a crapload of potential to make this a truly pocket-sized Mac.
