I think they need to tweak their QoS rules on their network.

The front pages seem real slow but when you get a stream it is solid.

The streams are killing the interface.

considering thousands of people are trying to access it all at one time, I can understand why it's "broken".

Just wait until it's 100%

I think Apple got it as close to what everyone was wanting. Unlimited burns, 3 computers, etc... a nice compromise if you ask me...

New iTunes icon = ugly had to put back the older iTunes 3 icon or the blue icon from 10.1.

Yeah the music service is slow and doesn't feature thousands of songs I would like to hear. Apple must think that pop music = all the music. I don't care listen to pop like the mindless teenies and twenty somethings do.

You can still browse and listen to the 30-second samples of everything in the store.

ooh super, I can browse and listen to 30 second samples

But cannot download.

Apple does not give a damn about the UK or the rest of Europe, or even the rest of the world.

Actually, you can't even do that - we're not allowed access to the site at all.

I wonder what Apple is using behind their "Music Store" within iTunes. It doesn't appear to use Webcore (although I bet it's a safe to say that they will might migrate to Webcore after it is available for all apps in 10.3...) but it does appear to be some kind of html/movie/flash thing?

I really feel for all our foreign friends. (Especially because I haven't been able to successfully buy anything yet.) That truly sucks. Did you guys get to hear or see the announcement? Steve said that you had to have a US-based credit card account (or maybe it was US billing address).

Why would that matter? Do all US commerce sites ban you? This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. OTOH, maybe you could get a US credit card?

I guarantee you this is because of licensing restrictions and contractual obligations from the record companies. Welcome to territorial licensing -- it sucks but it's not Apple's fault.

Yes you can - it even says so when you click on the store.

I'm sure that the reason for the US Only thing is because of music rights.

None of the Genre browsing seems to work at the moment. I can look at stuff from the homepage and do searches, but browsing times out.

Not that it matters anyway, I mean I can't buy anything.... / twiddles thumbs

For you international folks, welcome to the wonderful world of lawyers. US and international copyright laws are different animals so it may be a while before tbey get that side of the paperwork ironed out. Its a bummer for you none the less. Hopefully it wont be a long debacle to get it sorted. As for the slow service, everyone just remember that this is DAY 1 and eveyone who is a Mac type person has probably heard of the service and are busy trying out their new toys. This makes me want an iPod as I can actually see a use for it.

I think this is a great move from Apple, by the way. I wonder how many switchers this will generate as iTunes and the store only works with Apples. Does anyone know if there is such a service for Wintel boxes???

Well, I've finally registered successfully, and I am logged on. Am now attempting to purchase a song, but it taking an awfully long time . . .

Check that. I have succeeded at purchasing a song. Allah is great. Praise Allah.

Half the Mac OS X users are accessing the store, it is going to be slow. I like what I see and will certainly spend .99 for that song I WANT versus using the illegal <free> frustrating methods.
Preview feature is great.
It seems once you get in, preview and others work well. Switch to a different category and your back to time outs.

My bad... the entire message didn't load the first time I tried (I just got the Country Warning message next to the house icon). Still can't access the site though, but only because it is being hit so hard

Don't blame lawyers. The fault is with governments. All lawyers do is try to make sense of the mess made by politicians.

Now, I'd like to register, but I can't because the system won't let me in. Will all of you non-US people please f**k off for a while and stop swamping the servers. You already know the service isn't available outside the US. So quit spoiling it for us!!

More than half (at least in the US). But think about it, if they were any good as lawyers, they wouldn't have to run for office, now would they?

According to CNET, Jobs said a Windows version will be available by the end of the year.

Help! this may be a stupid question, but why can't I get the Music Store registration/credit card page to accept my phone number.

It keeps saying that the number must be 7 digits, and it is.

Mine says credit card services are unavailable. Great business plan. They insist on not taking my money.

For those that are complaining about speed, check the site in 72 hours and see if it is still slow. It's probably getting slammed right now.

For those that want to buy stuff internationally, talk to the RIAA and pray for swift resolution...in time, I'm sure it will work for you.

I couldn't connect to a lot of stuf before, but now everything's a-ok. I also noticed that before previews needed to "connect" before they started, but now they start immediately. Look like the initial wave of curious visitors is over.

Please! Quit your whining. It's a lot more cost effective for apple to limit the service initially -- especially if it flops. Apple is based in the US so it's only natural that the US will get some services first.

Hey don't rag on lawyers. I'm sure there are a couple good lawyers out there.

And when I say a couple, I mean two.

Hey, that's all I'll ever use the service for.

If I find an album I like, I'll buy the CD from a local independent music store.

(Actually, I'm pretty psyched about this, ever since amazon.com trashed CDnow's use as an online listening station.)

It wants my credit card details. I pressed cancel. I can't seem to log in without them wanting my money. 128bit security or not they aren't getting my details until I can browse the store and hear some previews.

Correction. It works now. I can preview stuff. cool.
