Downloading shared music from within your network

My roommate and I want to share some of our music. IT IS LEGALLY AVAILABLE MUSIC FROM HYBRIDIZED.ORG. Ourtunes quit working with iTunes 7, and Mojo now only streams music. How can I connect to his library and download his songs? We're both using 10.5 and 10.6.

Downloading. Hence why I wrote downloading in the title. We can stream if we enable sharing on our libraries, but then I can't put that stuff on my iPod/iPhone.

You can't do it through iTunes AFAIK, but there are a number of ways to do this within OS X itself via file sharing, SSH, etc.

You can do it with iTunes 9 with Home Sharing or manual file sharing with AFP, et al.

I am using AFP, it's just a PITA, because things don't organize as well as inside itunes itself. I'll look into Home Sharing, but so far no dice.

K, the problem is we both have different iTunes accounts. Is there a work around? I don't want him buying music with MY account, or vise versa.

You can still have unique accounts for the iTunes Store and pick one account to create the Home Sharing binding.
