Hello,

I've been unable to open my Displays prefpane for some time. Clicking on it brings on the "Loading Displays" pane and then System Preferences crashes.

What are the preference files used by the Displays prefpane?

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist is a good candidate.

Some, maybe all, of the prefs are stored in:

~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.preference.displays.[Your MAC Address].plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.[Your MAC Address].plist

Also try deleting your PreferencePanes cache at

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
