Question #1: What kind of performance can I expect on a single cpu 1.8ghz G5 with 1G Ram and a GeForce 5200?

Question #2: Can I play against people who have the PC version of the game?

Thanks!

For 1: I get pretty good playability of a 1GHz G4 with 640MB RAM and Radeon 7500 (eep!). So you should be fine.

I've played it on a 233 Mhz iMac (A bit slow) and a G4 400 (Perfect), so you really shouldnt have problems.

There are no multiplayer in CivIII IIRC.

I play it on my 800 MHz G3 (!!) iBook with 640 MB, and it gets slow during the endgame when there are lots of units, but playable. You ought to have no problems, though.

If you do have problems, though, or if someone else is trying to play on lesser equipment, try quitting other apps. Swapping absolutely kills Civ III. It also helps to turn off some of the extra animations.

As for multiplayer, they never released the Conquests or Play-The-world expansions for Mac, so plain Vanilla Civ is all you get.

1) More then enough hardware (probably still need to turn off AA)
2) No.

Hopefully we'll see CivIV in a reasonable amount of time after it's been finished for PCs. CivIII, while addictive, has some really annoying aspects to it.

Hey Juan. Haven't seen you around in awhile.

And for the first time (should have started by 2, defiantly at 3) they will have networking from the get go. Who knows maybe they will think about us mac users and NOT get locked into Direct Networking. Still not sure if I like the new graphics, only time will tell.

sup dude, yeah life has me. Been poking around here a bit but my forum time is gone.
