I've been ordered to go out and research digital camera's for my College's newspaper. They need something with a fast enough shutter speed to use at sporting events (basketball, tennis, etc.).

The only one that seemed to have a very fast shutter speed was the Olympus E-10, but that comes with a hefty price tag (~$2,000).

Can anyone recommend something slightly less expensive that'll work for sports photography?

Hi Josh,
Check out Digital Camera Resource, http://www.dcresource.com . They have an incredible site dedicated to digital cameras, with reviews, and links to best pricing. I would recommend looking at the Canon i90 (I think) and Sony also has a couple... but the site will give you specs on almost any camera out there...
