World's most valuable iPhone: $8 million | MacNN

I am so ****ing furious that an obscenely rich asshole like Tony Sage:

tony sage - Google Search

Has the gall to brag that he’s paid 8 ****ing million dollars for 2 iPhones to impress his vacuous, socialite ‘friends’.

Meanwhile, each and every day, thousands of children around the world die of starvation. Is there nothing left in this man’s soul, in his conscience: no care or compassion for anyone, anywhere?

Seriously, find this asshole’s number and blitz his shitty diamond-encrusted iPhone from all across the globe.

NB Steve Jobs: Seriously, how could you let this happen? Surely there’s a law against this.

I think people like this guy Sage live in their little bubble where everything is perfect, they have no worries about the outside world of their bubble.

Paying anything over $30 for a mobile phone is ridiculous.
But let's not assume that the guy doesn't have some kind of personal code in place which means he hasn't donated to starving kiddies.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

1. Billions and billions of dollars get spent EVERY DAY on useless shit.

2. For all you know, he just spent $80 million on donating medication to a cause you might consider eminently worthy.

3. Do you own an iPhone or an iPod? Why didn't you donate that money to a homeless shelter nearby? You callous, heartless person.

4. Those 8 million dollars are paying for a number of jobs - directly and indirectly.

5. That's a dumbphone if I've ever seen one. Unto each his own.

The problem I see with this "thing" is that encrusting anything in diamonds encourages the notion that "lots and lots more is always better" when it comes to embellishment of any kind. Wrong. Extra bling doesn't make anything look better, but rather it makes it look less and less tasteful. Crappy. Junky. Probably crappy, cheap-o diamonds all over the thing too. Yuck.

"But let's not assume that the guy doesn't have some kind of personal code in place which means he hasn't donated to starving kiddies."

This offensiveness negates any kind of "personal code": This is just obscene.

"Why didn't you donate that money to a homeless shelter nearby? You callous, heartless person."

Well, I never thought of myself like this. I help whenever I can. That's all I should have to say: except, if I had 8 million dollars I could certainly find innumerably better places to spend it, instead of locking up tacky encrusted iPhones in marble boxes.

A rich guy bought something.

Oh. The outrage.
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

So would this help or hinder reception?

So, you're upset that he spent the money instead of keeping it stashed away?

It's his money, he can look like an $8 million tool when the iPhone 5 comes out if he wants.

Even though this account seems to be trollish: Do you really want the money going to overturning third world governments? That's the only thing keeping people in the world starving. It's politics.

I wonder if the layer of diamonds prevents the iPhone loss-of-reception problem. If so, it may just be worth the extra $7.999 million.
