Does anyone know if the entire guts of a PM 8500 will fit into the empty case of a PM 9600 (which I understand also served as the case for the PM 8600)? I need to know if any modifications would be necessary, or are the cases for the 8500, 8600, 9500 and 9600 interchangeable?

Any help would be appreciated.

A friend of mine has a 8500 that he wants to sell, but it has a broken panel and some other cosmetic defects. He found a cheap 9600 case offered online, but doesn't want to buy it until he knows if the "guts" of his 8500 will fit into the 9600 case. I told him I'd post this question onto the message boards to see if anyone knows (because I don't).

Any help would be appreciated.

I think those machines are different enough that it wouldn't work...

Then again anything can be made to work if you want it to...a dremel and some welding tools may help..

I've used both of those machines before, and the 9600 case is pretty big compared to an 8500.
